MASTERS IN LINE REPORT by Paul McAdam
Paul and Rob were joined by Nicola Lafferty, Carly Haworth and their big pal Pedro Machado for the German Masters 2007 being held right near to Nuremburg.
After an eventful flight for Carly and Pedro, delays and more delays, all the team arrived and enjoyed the social night with workshops from Rob and Paul and it was soon clear there were lots of different nationalities in the room, with a large group of Latvian , Swiss, Norwegian, Austrian and of course German dancers all eager to participate in an already buzzing event.
Manuela and Tines fantastic organisational skills meant the event was running like clockwork with their well drilled team of volunteers.
The party then continued really early into the morning with some members heading to bed at 5am bet you cant guess who?
Saturday was a fantastic day of competition with all the dancers performing with such amazing enthusiasm that the judges were given headaches with all the tough decisions. This was all held together though by a masterclass of emceeing by the unique Pedro Machado his endless enthusiasm, energy and wit had the whole room buzzing right through till the break for the evening meal.
The day had also been broken up with teaches of brand new dances by Paul and Rob so that the social dancers had new teaches to take home.
The evening was once again fantastic and the show was unbelievable with performances from a Street Dance troupe, an Amazing Latin team performance and then Nicola and Carly became part of the Masters Phantom demo which was extremely well received.
Once again the night became a party as DJ Tine Knisell played requests and the latest dances including the workshops dances previously taught that day.
The Partying once more headed on after the event with some of it carrying on into Nuremburg itself with the party animals getting in at 6am, apparently.
Sunday was an evening for teams, duos and quads and boy did they perform, it was a fantastic display of the sheer enjoyment of dance as the judges were wowed and the audience screamed their support.
The event finished with Pedro playing a priceless game of make the red hot salsa track jump which had the audience in stitches, the Masters then said their thankyou’s and goodbyes to go and relax in the local village with fantastic sunshine a German beer and some good food.
On the way back Rob had a once in a lifetime experience, just ask him about meeting himself on a Plane.
The German Masters is an integral part of the Masters competition circuit and is an excellent place to come for a good time with friendly people, with some fantastic weather and some fantastic partying.
